How we make money
Right now, we don't. The calculators are free and there are no adverts or paid links. These are the rules we'll follow when that changes, published first so you can hold us to them.
Our rules
- No partner ever affects a number. Figures come from official sources and the same code runs whether or not a page has a recommendation on it.
- Recommendations never sit inside a result. They appear after it, under a clear heading.
- Every paid link is labelled, next to the link: "we may earn a fee" for affiliate links, "Sponsored" for paid placements.
- Sponsored listings are paid placements. The firm pays to be listed; we say so next to the link.
- Estate-agent sponsors must be buyer's agents: they act for the buyer, never as the seller's agent on the same property. They must be on their region's register of estate agents where one exists, hold professional indemnity insurance, and give you their fees in writing before you commit.
- Gestor and lawyer sponsors for NIE help: they must be registered with their professional body (the colegio de gestores administrativos, or the bar association), publish a fixed fee, never sell appointments, and never claim to guarantee or speed up a cita previa.
- A sponsor never changes a number or a guide. Paying for a listing buys a place in the Recommended box, nothing else.
- We only recommend services that fit the next step the calculator points to: for example an English-speaking gestor after the autónomo calculator, or a currency transfer service on the pensions page.
- Adverts, if any, stay out of the calculator. No ads between your inputs and your answer.
- Our own products are labelled as ours. If we mention an app or service we build, we'll say so next to the mention.
- Insurance and mortgage partners will only be firms authorised in Spain: insurers authorised by the DGSFP (the Spanish insurance supervisor), and mortgage intermediaries registered under Ley 5/2019. We link to them; we don't advise on or compare their products.
- Your details stay yours. We never collect or pass on personal data to a partner without your explicit consent.
